An interesting question, to stay on schedule and track dutifully to each new port is the antonym of ‘Sidetrack’. I’ve always hated to leave one place and move on to the next, but I always have fun wherever I go.
So, now I’m in Tonga, and there is so much more to see and experience here. Almost all of the other yachties have gone and the transformation here is amazing, I’m seeing Tongans in Tonga. The picuresque tropical anchorages are empty, I can have them to myself for weeks at a time.
Tonga remains open and inviting, friendly people, places to explore.
Maybe just one more month… I’ll just extend my visa another 31 days and worry about it mid December. New Zealand will still be there next month.

Listen to your heart! There must be something you are supposed to see there. View the island and your question as an Eagle would, from above, with a view of the whole picture. Set aside time and other restrictions when safe to do so, so that you can see what you have come so far to witness.
You cannot know these things before the journey begins, they will manifest themselves as you travel.
love, mom

Schedule? You have a schedule? If I went far away, sailing across the seas it would be to get AWAY from freakin' schedules except, perhaps, those that respect the wind and seasonal weather

Sneaky little things those schedules… you tell your family they can buy plane tickets to meet you in New Zealand because you'll be spending cyclone season there and making some repairs, tell some kiwis that you'll pop in to visit… suddenly you've got one.
